How can Kappahl’s warehouse, built at a strategic location directly next to the port of Gothenburg, be designed in collaboration with Vanderlande to operate efficiently, scale flexibly and support sustainable omnichannel fulfilment for both retail and e‑commerce?
Working on a solution together
The relocation to a strategic site near the port of Gothenburg required a warehouse solution that could handle high volumes while contributing to a reliable and sustainable logistics chain. Due to the combination of store and e‑commerce deliveries, the distribution centre had to be fast, flexible and future‑proof.
Together with Vanderlande, we realised an automated warehouse solution that meets these requirements. The solution consists of two storage systems, each comprising 18 storage levels up to a height of approximately 11.5 metres. This configuration ensures a clear structure and a smooth flow of goods, allowing incoming and outgoing products to be processed quickly and accurately.
The result
The new automated logistics centre of Kappahl in the Gothenburg region will be fully operational from the end of 2026. The result is a scalable and future proof distribution centre that provides higher capacity, faster order processing and better service to both stores and e commerce. In addition, the solution contributes to a more efficient logistics process aligned with Kappahl’s strategic and sustainable ambitions.
