The power of NEDCON’s project management

17 November 2025

Behind every successful NEDCON project stands a team that knows how to get things done. One of those people is Brian, Senior Project Manager. With years of experience, a technical background and a down-to-earth mindset, he ensures that projects not only meet technical requirements but also run smoothly. In this blog, he shares his perspective on project management at NEDCON and how he makes sure commitments are honored.

From fruit stand to project management
Brian’s career started in a very different way. “Before joining NEDCON, I spent twelve years working at my family’s fruit business on the market,” he says. “That is where I truly learned what customer focus, flexibility and hard work mean.”

After studying Mechanical Engineering, he worked at an engineering firm and completed training as a Mold Engineer. In 2002, he made the switch to NEDCON. “During my job interview, I immediately felt at home. The openness and down-to-earth atmosphere made me think: this is where I want to work.”

What does a Project Manager at NEDCON do?
Project Managers oversee the entire project process and ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish. Brian explains: “As a Project Manager, I am the link between the customer, engineering, sales and execution,” he explains. “I monitor the schedule, manage risks and budgets, and make sure everyone knows what needs to be done. All with one goal: a satisfied customer and a successful project.”

During his time at NEDCON, Brian earned his IPMA C certification. “That certification is a huge help, it is like a toolbox. It provides me structure, methodologies and soft skills like leadership and stakeholder management. Especially in complex projects, that is essential.”

From kick-off to delivery
Brian is often involved as early as the sales phase. “I start by analyzing the offer and contract. Then, together with Sales, we plan a kick-off and I set up the schedule and assemble the project team.”

“Risks?” Brian asks. “You want to stay ahead of them.” Together with the (Sales) team, he creates a risk analysis. “We identify the major risks, link targeted actions to them and evaluate them regularly,” he explains. “Clear communication is key.”

To track progress, he uses a mix of tools and common sense. “The schedule is managed in MS Project and I closely monitor it along with the budget. For quality control, I work closely with engineering, procurement and installation.”

Customer-focused until the end and beyond
Throughout the project, Brian keeps the customer actively involved. “Through weekly calls, reports, and site visits, I make sure they are well-informed and can contribute their input.”

Delivery is the moment of truth. “We do a joint inspection, make sure everything is in order, and make sure the customer is truly satisfied. Because a good feeling at delivery is worth its weight in gold.”

And even after that, he often stays involved. “For aftercare, warranty questions or small adjustments. The project may be officially finished, but the relationship with the customer continues.”

A project that made a difference
Brian recalls a special project in 2014 in Orlando, Florida. “Just before we were about to start, a hurricane swept through the area. Main buildings collapsed, which had a huge impact on our schedule and approach.”

“But here is the beauty of it: instead of giving up, we all pulled together to keep things moving. We worked with the customer to find responsible ways to proceed. Every team member, every department, everyone contributed. It was a true team effort between NEDCON and our System Integrator. We minimized delays and still completed the project successfully. Because… there is no ‘I’ in TEAM!”

A personal note
Finally, Brian shares something he truly values about his work. “Project management is all about deadlines, schedules, and teamwork… but it also takes you to places you might never otherwise go. I have traveled a lot over the years and in those moments, when you pause and take it all-in, you realize: wow, I am truly privileged. Those are the moments I genuinely enjoy.”
