Safety is an important topic for us, which is why we dedicate extra attention to it every year during our Health & Safety Week.
Health & Safety Week at NEDCON
Health & Safety Day at NEDCON BV
On Tuesday, we organized our Health & Safety Day in Doetinchem. Employees had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities. One of the highlights was a rollover simulator, which recreated a situation in which a car overturns. Colleagues received instructions on how to safely escape from a vehicle in such an emergency.
In addition, AED and CPR training sessions were held on our fifth training floor, where employees learned how to respond in emergency situations and provide life-saving first aid.
During the week, a fire drill was also conducted, during which the entire building was evacuated. Regular drills are essential to ensure that everyone can respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency.
Golden Helmet Award
At the end of the Health & Safety Day, the Golden Helmet Award was presented for the best health and safety improvement idea. This year, the award went to Stefan Ketelaar.
A challenge had arisen within several Adapto shuttle projects: the rails used in these systems developed sharp edges after the rolling process. This posed a safety risk and required an effective solution.
The NEDCON project team developed an innovative solution: a specialized tool that removes burrs from the rails, creating smooth edges and eliminating potential hazards. This solution not only makes the work safer but also ensures that the final result better meets customer expectations.
Health & Safety Week at NEDCON CZ
Our production facility in the Czech Republic also placed a strong focus on Health & Safety. During the Health & Safety Day, two guest speakers shared their expertise.
Mr. Jaroslav Nečas, Head of the Labour Inspectorate, delivered a presentation based on real-life accident cases. He shared practical examples of incidents involving specific equipment, forklift trucks, and working at height.
In addition, professional rally driver Martin Macík shared his experiences and insights on safety during the Dakar Rally.
Alongside these presentations, participants actively practiced first aid skills. Through various emergency and accident simulations, they had the opportunity to apply their knowledge in realistic scenarios.
Health & Safety Day at NEDCON USA
At NEDCON USA, the focus was on practical safety training. Employees attended demonstrations by the local fire department on fire suppression techniques and participated in AED and first aid training.
Attention was also given to the correct use of fall protection equipment and the safe operation of forklift trucks.
We look back on a successful Health & Safety Week. By working together and keeping safety top of mind, we make our workplace a little safer every day.
