Production

NEDCON has modern production facilities in Pardubice, Czech Republic, and Shelbyville, Kentucky.

In our factories where we produce racking systems, we continuously measure whether the products meet the required tolerances. At fixed intervals, we send components to the NEDCON Test Department in Doetinchem, where they undergo rigorous load and bending tests.

Yes. Our 28,000 m² production facility in Pardubice, Czech Republic, operates 24 hours a day, with 200 colleagues working to manufacture your racking systems. It is an impressive process that we would be happy to show you. You are welcome to visit us in the Czech Republic.

NEDCON manufactures all uprights, beams, and shelves in-house.

Quality

NEDCON sets high-quality standards for the procurement of materials, often exceeding market norms.

We continuously optimize our production processes with a focus on sustainability. Our products have a minimum lifespan of 15 years but often last significantly longer. Additionally, it is now possible to manufacture our products using green steel.

Want to know more about this? Visit our SDG website to learn more.

The minimum lifespan of NEDCON products is 15 years. In practice, our products often last much longer.

NEDCON only uses high-quality structural steel, including S275, S355MC, S420MC, S250GD, S350GD, and more.

Standards

NEDCON is closely involved in the development of European standards. Our experts actively contribute to the development of European design guidelines within FEM / ERF and CEN.

Certification

Yes, NEDCON holds three German abZ type approvals:

  • Beams (Z-14.8-833)
  • Frames (Z-14.8-834)
  • Electrolytically galvanized bolt sets (Z-14.4-853)

This guarantees the component properties and authorizes the design method in Germany.

Our Quality, Health & Safety department conducts internal audits to ensure ongoing compliance. We collaborate with DNV and SLV for CE marking.

Yes, NEDCON is DIN certified.

  • DIN 18800-7 version E: This certification ensures the quality of our welding processes.

Yes, NEDCON is ISO certified.

  • ISO 9001 - 2015: This international quality management system certification ensures that we maintain high operational standards.
  • ISO 14001 (Pardubice, Czech Republic): Our environmental management system under ISO 14001 helps us control and reduce CO2 emissions. ISO 14001 is a voluntary standard.

Test Department

Much of our testing equipment has been developed in-house, such as our hydraulic load system for bending tests and our impact tester, the forklift simulator. Additionally, we have purchased measuring instruments from HBM, a leading supplier of measurement equipment. However, tests must be validated. That is why we collaborate with experts who independently verify whether our testing setups comply with the required standards. These experts include the Technical University of Dortmund and Büro Dr. Möll. Furthermore, we calibrate our measuring instruments annually.

allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung Certification (abZ)

Because of the validated results of our tests, NEDCON has obtained abZ certification for the German market. With these test results, we can demonstrate that our storage systems comply with stringent German building regulations.

Racking construction is a unique branch of science within steel construction. In many cases, no calculation models are available to accurately determine the properties of racking components. That is why we started testing ourselves. How does thin-walled perforated steel behave in real-world conditions? And how much load can the connections withstand? From these tests, we gathered a wealth of information, which we document and incorporate into our calculation models for designing racking systems. This helps us continuously improve our products.

We conduct all product testing and measurements in-house, ensuring precise and reliable results.

With great pride, we present the NEDCON Test Department. For over 35 years, we have been testing components in our own laboratory. Since 2000, we have even been conducting these tests in-house in Doetinchem. Thanks to the Test Department, we possess knowledge that is unique in the industry and use it to continuously improve your storage systems.

At our NEDCON Test Department, we conduct the following tests:

  • Heavy structural testing, such as bending tests, impact tests, and fatigue tests to examine the strength of materials or constructions.
  • Functional tests: how does a component or structure perform under normal use over an extended period?
  • Fast prototyping: we also use our test center to validate designs. This saves a significant amount of calculation work and time.

Unlike conventional pallet racking, not every pallet position is directly accessible by the forklift.

Pallet flow racks

Our flow racks for small goods use gravity for moving items to the picking location. The system consists of roller tracks set at a customized incline. Goods are loaded on the input side and retrieved on the output side. Flow racks are the perfect choice for operations handling high-turnover goods which need to be continuously available.

  • A smart choice for efficient order picking
  • High storage capacity possible

Beamtype miniload

The Beamtype miniload is a fully automated system. The warehouse crane retrieves bins from the racking and delivers them to a pick-and-drop station. Our Beamtype miniload is designed for the storage of bins and boxes.

In the Beamtype miniload system, the beams span 3 to 5 bin positions and are hooked into the uprights. Multiple bins or boxes can be placed between two frames, both in width and depth. Since the bin or box is directly supported by the beam, it is extracted from the compartment using a pulling technique by the warehouse crane. This type of system is highly earthquake-resistant and can be assembled quickly and safely. We supply this system in collaboration with our system integrators.

  • Flexible bin dimensions and compartment layout
  • Smart and patented easy-click system ensures a relatively short installation time for an automated system
  • Compliant with European and American standards and/or guidelines
  • Highly suitable for earthquake-prone areas
  • Available in CO₂-reduced steel

Yes, we have our own modern production facilities in Pardubice (Czech Republic) and Shelbyville, Kentucky (United States), where we manufacture the racking ourselves. The warehouse cranes are supplied by our system integrators.

The Beamtype miniload complies with European and American standards and/or guidelines. Click here to read all about our certifications, standards, and regulations.

Project-specific, up to 32 meters (105 feet).

The maximum load capacity of a Beamtype miniload depends on the specific project requirements. For each project, we evaluate the desired specifications and tailor our configurations accordingly.

Open Face miniload

The Open Face miniload is a fully automated system. The warehouse crane retrieves bins from the racking and transports them to a pick-and-drop station. Our Open Face miniload system is specifically designed for the storage of bins or trays.

Your products are picked quickly and efficiently by an automated warehouse crane that moves through the aisle. The term "Open Face" refers to the open access to the bins, allowing the warehouse crane to easily load and unload bins with products. In an Open Face miniload system, the bins are not supported by a continuous beam. Instead, they rest on angle supports, leaving space underneath so the warehouse crane can easily lift and transport the bins using a specialized lifting technique. We provide this system in collaboration with our system integrators.

  • High storage density possible
  • Specialized solution for tapered bins
  • In-house design and manufacturing
  • Available in CO2-reduced steel

Yes, we have our own modern production facilities in Pardubice (Czech Republic) and Shelbyville, Kentucky (United States), where we manufacture the racking ourselves. The warehouse cranes are supplied by our system integrators.

ROBORACK

In ROBORACK projects, our racking systems are operated by autonomous robots which are not attached to the racks. These robots handle the storage and retrieval of goods, mostly in bins or boxes. The system replaces manual order-picking techniques and offers a significant advantage over automated mini-load systems. The implementation can be completed in a short period and the return on investment is much faster.

  • Racking systems specifically designed for robotic applications
  • Racking systems that meet the strict requirements of the robotics supplier
  • Easily scalable by adding extra robots and/or racking systems
