Every company has ambitions to grow, not always in terms of turnover but certainly in terms of knowledge, experience, market share, profit etc. The growth ambitions of our customer Zalando are very challenging. They see that the fashion industry is changing thanks to digitization and this requires a different approach.
Zalando is convinced that the best way to achieve growth and at the same time continue to drive forward digitization is with a platform-based business model.
According to Zalando there are three areas that are essential for the success of the platform strategy in which they are significantly investing: customers, infrastructure and partners.
In order to realize its growth ambitions, Zalando is forced to be transparent to its suppliers. Only then, the supplier can be flexible and anticipate Zalando's developments.
On Wednesday, May 15, Zalando organized a supplier day at their brand new headquarters in Berlin. Of course, NEDCON was present and an attentive listener at the Break-out Sessions. After an inspiring talk from David Schröder (CFO & Member of the Management Board) in which the growth ambitions and the associated strategy were explained, there were several Break-out Sessions in which knowledge regarding specific topics was discussed.
The informal and transparent approach from Zalando to its suppliers is very positive for the collaboration. This ensures that NEDCON can grow from supplier to long-term partner.
